Trainee Appraisal Careers are hard to find these days, so why not get a let up over other Trainees looking for jobs?  Working with an experienced Certified Appraiser is a critical step for a Trainee.

Traineess must learn the Appraisal business by working directly with a Supervisor in order to upgrade from a Trainee License to a Residential Appraiser License.   Trainees are at a disadvantage because Lenders will accept appraisals from Licensed Residential Appraisers, Certified Residential, or Certified General Appraisers, leaving Trainees very few options.  Lenders only want reports from Licensees who have finished their entire apprenticeship and have graduated out of the Trainee License level.

This introduction to Appraisal instruction is not an ongoing Supervisor-Trainee job that pays you income, however, you may find it valuable to work on a week of real appraisal files from start to finish.

You do not need to buy your own software or pay for MLS subscriptions and Public Records subscriptions.  The typical 5 days of training will be working together on about 3-6 appraisals from start to finish and you will earn 7 hours of OREA experience for every day.

If you do not have a license, but would like to learn if this is Appraisal Business would be a good job for you, there is no experience necessary to learn.

  1. One-on-one training in a work setting, with real appraisal files.
  2. Learn how to setup a file in Alamode software.
  3. Setting appointments and what are critical questions you should ask up front.
  4. How to pull the right set of comps.
  5. Accompany the Certified Appraiser to the inspection and how to interact with a homeowner/occupant.
  6. Learn to use a laser measuring tool.
  7. How to take the right interior and exterior photos that lenders want to see.
  8. Photograph comparable properties using a GPS finding the best route available.
  9. Inputting photos into the report.
  10. See how to annotate a parcel map and location of comparable balloons on the software.
  11. See how specific comments added to the report helps the client understand the report and information about the subject property.
  12. Learn the entire final appraisal write up process and to arrive at the correct value.
  13. Ability to ask specific questions, debate relevant topics and share ideas, discuss new laws and regulations.
  14. With this experience, you can then look for a perminant Supervisor to finish your apprenticeship, and have a leg up when seeking perminant work.

Upon completion, you will receive a signed printout that is in the correct OREA format called the Experience Summary Log showing the hours you have logged.  This signed paperwork is ready for the OREA application process to upgrade to your next Appraiser License or Certified Residential License level.  Please see the www.orea.ca.gov website for information on the total number of hours you personally need to qualify for your upgrade.  NOTE: This offer is not a Continuing Education CE accredited course with a school.

You can learn one week at a time, or get a discount on the fee for 4 consecutive weeks.  Get working knowledge that your Textbooks did not teach you!
